NURSERY RIMES OF THE ANCIENT MARINER

OLD FATHER HUBBARD

WENT TO HIS CUPBOARD

IN HOPES OF A NICE BREAKFAST BUN

BUT TO HIS DESPAIR ONLY CRUMBS REMAINED THERE!

SO INSTEAD THE OLD FELLOW HAD NUN.
Yes, that's his story and he's sticking to it, and when you get right down to it, who could blame the old gentleman, really.

And let's face it, you saw this one coming the second you glimpsed the opening line, didn't you? But you looked all the way through anyway because that's how you are. Well this time it paid off because it seems the good man enjoyed the first one so much he had another! (Kind of like Chinese food, these breakfast Nuns)

And since then its no more cinnamon buns at breakfast time for the dear man; he's lost tons of weight, (and considerable respect among certain but by no means all elements within the community), has a twinkle in his eye, a bounce in his step and is in every way a lot more fun to be around. Well nasty habits are like that, don't you think?

  1. Well now, Mac, the old boy will just have to teach the Nuns to make cinnamon buns, won't he, and he'll have the problem solved.
Meantime, we recommend he carefully study the implications and benefits of the old adage " A bun in the hand, tho' merrily banned, in eating shall soon be won... ":) ~R

  2. I could make a really, really--no I mean really--bad pun, but I won't.

    1. Yes, Mike, Mac runs a wholesome, helpful, veggie-growing site at the shed that is, indeed, quite a sight at times, so it's off to the nunnery, bunnery, the punnery and funnery for us.
Perhaps we can agglomerate all of those helpful ideas in: "Mac's place: A requiem for Nunsense and rutabagas", sub-titled "We'll have Nun of them Onion-bustin' Fidoodling Habits Hereabouts!".... ":))
